This little gem sold out fast and was only available on tour if you happened to
catch the band Daredevil during the summer of 95. The Silver Horseshoes was a
side project headed by Daredevil & Indian Summer's guitarist Adam. Tracks from this release would have nestled in quite nicely with some of the better lo-fi country infused
projects of the same period ala Palace, Songs:Ohia & Rex. These tracks were
recorded at a West Oakland warehouse live via stereo cassette, a very cheap recorder
at that. That said the tracks still retain a rustic beauty and deserve to be shared among interested listeners, we're happy to provide...
A lovely packaged release comprised of a die cut fold out chipboard case. lino-cut print of stampeding horses and an unlucky upside down horseshoe. Hand written name and label logo with cut & glued xerox info squares. Even the shiny red staples keeping it all together were a nice touch.
Just 4 songs of haunted slide and discordant country guitar riffs, singing, jaw harp & samples. The songs are sandwiched between repeating record loops of stampeding horses, distorted and tangled in a slightly disturbing manner, a glorious addition...
The line up for these songs featured Adams brother Seth on drums (also of Indian Summer), Billy from Ordination of Aaron and Daredevil, Nate (RIP) of Bubblejug & Gang Gang Dance, Fawn & Quinn from Tarentela.

A sequence of 51 tiny masterpieces edited by Morgan Fisher. Amazing collection of mostly British composers and sound explorers. Everything from abstract poetry, jazz, experimental, avant-rock and more. It's impressive to see the amount of creativity these artists back into a 1-minute (or less) piece. You can hear them having fun with the work and doing things they are not normally used to doing, full spectrum of composition, sound and explorations. Each track is wonderfully commented on by label owner and project producer Morgan Fisher. Stand out tracks for us were Andy Partridge, The Work, Fred Frith (who squeezes pieces from every Henry Cow song into a power mash up piece!) Metabolist, The Residents & Mary Langford.

2.3 children hail from san francisco these three 7 inches were on penguin records all dated 1982, 2.3 make some very strange, creepy and hilarious music "other peoples l.p.'s" for example is arguably an overlooked funnier than all hellbent classic for any record nut, other favorites include "drunk in the afternoon" and "harry bop slow" although relevance of these folks is some what an obscure topic i imagine 2.3 sharing couch with the residents, chrome and other s.f. comrades serving up the same brand of neo political or not.. wacked out lunacy!! i believe these three 7 inchers to be there complete discography however any help or info on the group would be very welcomed.... if you are in the mood for a laugh or just want to hear some very interesting and bizarre music give em a try.

there might be a common misconception that tristeza follows a certain code of musical terrain to abide by, however trim your ear hairs -these next few posts should prepare that tristeza's sound is not only beyond trivial and mostly lifeless tags such as post rock or instrumental, it can actually transcend said genre's muffin although at times true is the sword, we cannot stop lifeless quiffs or horrible luck. I know for a fact that the pretty and quiet than so loud your brain caves in formula that most "instrumental bands" explore bores this band stiff...in several instances you might add: post punk, kraut, minimal synth, ambient, drone, dub, heelgaze, prog, and musique concrete to the descriptive cataloger of tristeza's sound corral.

one of my very favourite recordings of all the ages

I hope my daughter will hear these songs when she is 16 or around the age i was given this cassette by tim dewit in kalamazoo michigan circa. 1995 and i hope she can listen with the same sense of innocence and magic that i did that summer..a beautiful document of home and field recordings recorded in grand rapids michigan washington d.c. and portland oregon, streets sounds, resonant piano, beautifully delivered minuscule guitar parts ringing huge and true in the church halls of an old beat up four track capturing the summer perfectly for me anyway, forever.

nathan maddox/ we listened to this tape incessantly.

tim went on to play drums for cranium, gang gang dance and stints with white magic and neil michael hagerty to name a few.

a cryptic and magical journey, i feel almost protective of this cassette like a favourite hat or a song your grandpa sang you about fishing down a crawdad hole.

I hope you can hold it as close to your heart as i do mine.
